How has the LinkedIn Organic Reach Rate changed over time?

This chart shows the historical monthly LinkedIn Organic Reach Rate for the past year. As you can see, the monthly average is seldom static so its important to benchmark your performance on LinkedIn against the monthly average. How to calculate Organic Reach Rate on LinkedIn

Organic Reach Rate (ORR) is the percentage of your followers who see your posts WITHOUT spending money on ads.

Post ORR = Organic Reach divided by Followers

Profile ORR = Average of all Post ORR’s during the given time interval (ie: last month)

If you promote (boost) published posts with paid spend, you will see both organic reach and paid reach. But ORR relates only to organic reach. It’s the best indicator you have of understanding what percentage of your community are actually seeing your posts. If it’s really low (eg: single-digit percentage) it might be time to consider investing in paid ad spend.

What affects LinkedIn Organic Reach Rate?

There are many opportunities on LinkedIn to increase organic reach – moreso than Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. When followers interact with your Company Page posts (by liking, commenting or better still, sharing) this increases the organic reach of the post to their first degree connections.

During your analysis you may see posts with Organic Reach Rates over 100%! Yes, this is possible – all it means is that your post is going viral and you are reaching people outside of your followers. On smaller company pages this is actually quite common. Don’t believe the hype – organic reach is definitely not dead on LinkedIn!
